BluLateral was founded by Chris Causey, MA, M.Div., LMHC — a licensed psychotherapist with more than 15 years of experience working in trauma, addiction, and nervous system regulation.
Before becoming a counselor, Chris served as a clinical hospice chaplain in Washington State, supporting individuals and families facing end-of-life challenges. That work profoundly shaped his understanding of human suffering, resilience, and emotional healing, eventually leading him to pursue graduate training in counseling.
Chris earned his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University through the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS) program in 2008. Living and working near Joint Base Lewis-McChord also provided extensive experience supporting military populations and individuals navigating high-stress environments.
Over the course of his clinical career, Chris has incorporated EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches into his work with individuals and couples struggling with trauma, stress, addiction, and emotional overwhelm. The development of BluLateral grew directly out of that clinical experience and the need for accessible, effective nervous system regulation tools beyond the therapy office.
In addition to leading BluLateral, Chris continues to maintain a private counseling practice focused on trauma, resilience, and emotional wellness.
